FAQ

PRODUCT

Q: Are Mount Khiri lenses UV protected?

A: Yes. All Mount Khiri lenses are UV400 rated, meaning they block 100% of UVA and UVB radiation.

Q: Do your sunglasses comply with Australian standards?

A: Yes. The lenses have been tested under AS/NZS 1067.1.

Q: Are Mount Khiri lenses polarised?

A: Yes. All Mount Khiri lenses are polarised.

Polarised lenses reduce glare from reflective surfaces such as roads, water, and snow.

Q: What materials are used in the frames?

A: Mount Khiri frames combine:

  • Acetate
  • Wood
  • Engraved detailing

Because wood is a natural material, grain patterns vary slightly from pair to pair.

Q: What are the wooden temples made from?

A: The arms are crafted from laminated natural hardwood (such as maple, walnut, ebony or zebrawood) with a concealed metal core for strength and shape retention.

Q: How durable are the wooden temples?

A: The wood layers are bonded using high-strength industrial adhesive designed for temperature and humidity variation. The internal metal core provides structural reinforcement.

Q: Will the wood crack or warp?

A: The laminated construction and internal core reduce the risk of warping. As with any natural material, proper care will extend the life of the product.

Q: Is the wood treated?

A: Yes. The wood is sealed with a protective plant-based oil to enhance durability and resistance to moisture.

Q: What is included in every sunglasses purchase?

A: Each pair includes:

  • Soft black microfibre pouch
  • Foldable triangular cork case with soft lint interior
  • Black microfibre lens cloth

CARE

Q: Can the wooden temples get wet?

A: The wood is sealed with a protective finish, but it’s best to avoid prolonged exposure to water. If they get wet, dry them with a soft cloth and allow them to air dry fully before storing.

Avoid submerging them or using them for water sports.

Q: Can I leave them in a hot car?

A: Avoid leaving your sunglasses in extreme heat (such as on a car dashboard). High temperatures can affect both the lenses and the laminated wood over time.

Q: How should I clean the frames?

A: Wipe the frames with a dry or slightly damp cloth only. Avoid harsh cleaning chemicals, alcohol-based cleaners, or soaking the wood.

For lenses, use a microfiber cloth and appropriate lens cleaner.

Q: Do the wooden arms need oiling?

A: The wooden arms do not require regular oiling. However, if the wood appears dry over time, a very small amount of natural wood oil can be lightly applied and any excess wiped off immediately.
